In a country which has neglected
its historical heritage as badly as Venezuela, the town
of Coro, capital of Falcón State, is not only beautiful,
but also remarkable. The restored heart of the city, awarded
UNESCO World Heritage status in 1993, is truly a gem of
colonial architecture, heavily influenced by the Dutch
Antilles' style of the eighteenth century. |

A complete anomaly
in this tropically exuberant land, the médanos
(dunes) of Coro present a wonderful opportunity
to pretend you're in the French Foreign Legion for a day.
